Located in Boston MA, Boston University is one of the top-rated schools in the country for theatre programs. In 2018, a new 75,000 gross square foot complex was constructed providing a state-of-the-art, multifunctional space that housed theatre as well as support spaces and design labs for teaching and production.
MMS worked with the design team to provide a modular penthouse for the chilled and hot water plants.
- Penthouse included: (2) chillers, (3) CHW pumps, (3) CW pumps, cooling tower sand filter and chemical treatment, free cooling heat exchanger, (2) boilers, (2) hot water pumps, VFD’s, as well as associated electrical and controls scope.
- During construction the customer required the chilled water and heating plants to be operational prior to the rest of the building. The owner and design team opted for a modular mechanical room so that the plant could be built in a parallel path to construction of the rest of the building.
- These units were installed in 2018 and the building was fully occupied in 2019.
